The Treetop Flyers’ Reid and Laurie’s mellow side project Albert play soulful West Coast rock with sweet yearning harmonious vocals.
In an effort to make sure their time was well spent during the pandemic, Reid and Laurie began a weekly routine of working in the studio on new ideas. With a shared love for a more laid-back approach to music inspired by contemporary artists such as Sylvie, Drugdealer, Charles Watson, Reverend Baron, Kevin Morby, Marina Allen and Spencer Cullum Jr, to classic artists such as Gerry Rafferty, JJ Cale, Van Morrison, Fairport Convention and George Harrison, the pair set to work to see what magic they could conjure up. The pair called on friends Dom Brider and Charles Watson (Surfing Magazines), Devin Harrow (Native Harrow) and Charlie Higgs, and recorded their debut album ‘Time Well Spent’. Their new single 'When The Birds Come' is out now, and is the title track from a new EP out soon.
"Their debut album is certainly, as its title states, Time Well Spent. A collection of seven country-soul songs it is redolent of languid summer days. Lyrically it looks at love in its many facets" SHINDIG
"Albert have delivered an album with feel – it evokes the comfort of good times, happy memories and the sadness that accompanies their inevitable fading into the past. A very satisfying listen, perfect for summer evenings" AMERICANA UK
